Great Is Thy Faithfulness
May 16th, 2008Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee.
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
Refrain:
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord unto me.
Refrain
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Refrain
Blessed Assurance
May 16th, 2008Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.
Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
2. Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
(Refrain)
3. Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love.
(Refrain)
Jesus Medley
May 13th, 2008I’m not going to post the words to this. They’re very well known. Please, just click on the link and sit back, relax and listen.
This is back when Ernie Haase was in his father-in-law’s singing group, “Old Friends Quartette”. His father-in-law was George Younce, the deep bass you can hear. He’s gone on to meet his Master, now. Ernie is the high voice.
Softly and Tenderly
May 8th, 2008Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portals He’s waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.
Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!
Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?
Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!
O for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.
Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!
In The Garden
May 8th, 2008I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear
The Son of God discloses
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known
He speaks and the sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known
I’d stay in the garden with Him
‘Tho the night around me be falling
But He bids me go; through the voice of woe
His voice to me is calling
And He walks with me
And He talks with me
And He tells me I am His own
And the joy we share as we tarry there
None other has ever known

SeptemberMorn: If ya’ll didn’t go to youtube just now, please listen to it later. It’s beautiful!
eskielover: It was amazing..I grew up knowing about the Holy Spirit….it wasn’t until just lately I understood what an important role the Spirit has in our lives
greenpepper: mmm not sure i do understand
recluse1: so thankful you are sharing it with us too!
SeptemberMorn: What don’t you understand, Pepper?
greenpepper: the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives…….i guess its something you experience to understand ? ?
eskielover: this bible study was what brought it to understanding for me
SeptemberMorn: maybe… I know I feel more in God’s plan now that we’ve been in this Bible Study. Things happen that have no explanation other than His leading
greenpepper: wow
recluse1: we all experience it daily…just sometimes we aren’t able to recognize
SeptemberMorn: The Joy is there, too, even through hard times.
eskielover: It
greenpepper: i guess its one of those things i believe you believe
eskielover: I
SeptemberMorn: you’ll believe it, too, as time goes on, Pepper. ![]()
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, you okay?

_Sky entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: no worries, Anna.
eskielover: hi sky…welcme….just getting started
_Sky: oooo lots of pale faces ![]()
_Sky: Ok thanks!
recluse1: God gives us the Holy Spirit to live in us and communicate with us, kind of like Christ’s consciousness within ourself,
recluse1: hi…welcome
recluse1: did that make any sense Pepper?
eskielover: God sent the Holy spirit after Christ ws raised from the dead so that we would have guidance as Christ was here on earth
greenpepper: kind of……..sometimes its like reading how to type…and without typing it seems foreign
recluse1: lol, i understand. we are all learning here.
eskielover: will continue from last week
SeptemberMorn: pretty soon, you’ll be “typing”, Pepper ![]()
greenpepper: ![]()
_Sky: could everyone go bold for me?
SeptemberMorn: don’t hesitate to ask Eski any guestions, ok?
recluse1: 1 sec
greenpepper: how do u do bold?
eskielover: I left off with the question of what will be the basis for rewards from Christ…..Rev 22:12
_Sky: click on the B in the lower left corner
greenpepper: nvmd
_Sky: ![]()
_Sky: ![]()
SeptemberMorn: There’s a B at the botttom of your screen…
SeptemberMorn: lol you got it
recluse1: got it
eskielover: testing
eskielover: that looks bold to me????
SeptemberMorn: yes, Deb ![]()
greenpepper: bold helps me too……thanks for suggesting it sky
eskielover: It does look better
_Sky: tks
recluse1: no prob!
SeptemberMorn: only drawback is that if you write something long, you lose it on the right hand side.
_Sky: We’re studying Revelation?
SeptemberMorn: you can slide your participants box and make it smaller
SeptemberMorn: No, Fruit of the S pirit, Sky
recluse1: just scripture reference i think sky
eskielover: no we are introducing the fruit of the spirit….& the works of the spirit & how they show in our lives…using other books of the bible also
_Sky has left the room.
eskielover: We know that judgment is by grace, but it is also by works
greenpepper: its by works?
eskielover: Rev 22:12 the fact is that the works happen only because of the grace
eskielover: Give to everyone according to what he has done
anna342 has left the room.
eskielover: Romans 2:6 explaines it
eskielover: Paul not contradicting that a person is not saved by what he does but by faith in what Christ does for him
eskielover: The good words of the believer give evidence that he has faith
eskielover: seen good works give evidence of unseen faith
eskielover: it is the spirit that is in us that allows us to do the good works
eskielover: Eph 2:8-10
eskielover: explaines that we are god’s workmanship
eskielover: created in Christ Jesus to do good works
eskielover: doing good works but not believing in Christ….god knows our hearts that is the final determination
eskielover: That is the spirit in us that gives us the ability to do the works according to God’s desire
SeptemberMorn: doing good works without the love of God… are empty
eskielover: exactly
greenpepper: mmm
recluse1: that is a new way of looking at it for me
recluse1: always saw it as my listening to the spirit
eskielover: The next area that we are going to look at is what the 10 characteristics are of living the crucified life
greenpepper: if its the spirit allows us to do good works………can we be held accountable for good works?
SeptemberMorn: doing good things in the name of Jesus because that’s what he would have done is what counts
recluse1: cool to see it is the spirit within me
eskielover: The good works come from our love of God
SeptemberMorn: you get credit for doing good works in Jesus’ name, Pepper
SeptemberMorn: exactly, Debbie
eskielover: that causes us to do the good works….but it isn’t the good works that get’s us to heaven
recluse1: right!
eskielover: they go hand in hand…..loving God, having the Spirit in us to guide our actions, believing in Christ is what allows the Holy Spirit into our hearts
greenpepper: get credit? is that the jewel thing on our heads or something like that?
…end of part 1…
I Bowed On my Knees
May 7th, 2008I Bowed On My Knees (and cried Holy)
Written By: Nettie Dudley Washington
Verse I
I dreamed of a city called Glory
So bright and so fair
When I entered the gates I cried Holy
The angels all met me there
They carried me from mansion to mansion
And oh the sites I saw
Then I said I want to see Jesus
The one who died for all
Chorus
Then I bowed on my knees and cried Holy, Holy, I cried Holy
I clapped my hands and said Glory, Glory to the Lamb of God
Glory to the Lamb of God
Verse II
As I entered the gates of that city
My loved ones all knew me well
They took me down the streets of Heaven
The scenes too many to tell
I saw Abraham, Jacob and Isaac
Mark and Timothy
But then I said I want to see Jesus
The One who died for me
2nd Chorus:
Then I bowed on my knees and cried Holy, Holy, I cried Holy
I clapped my hands and said Glory, Glory, I said Glory, Glory
I clapped my hand and said Glory, Glory to the Lamb of God
AMEN!

Songs for tonight:
Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down
(Make it your personal prayer)
Oh Comforter and Friend
How we need Your touch again
Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down (2X)
Let Your power fall
Let Your voice be heard
Come and change our hearts
As we stand on Your word
Holy Spirit, rain down
No eye has seen, no ear has heard
No mind can know what God has in store
So open up heaven, open it wide
Over Your church and over our lives
Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down
Oh Comforter and Friend
How we need Your touch again
Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down
Let Your power fall
Let Your voice be heard
Come and change our hearts
As we stand on Your word
Holy Spirit, rain down
Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me.
(repeat 3 times)

CRUCIFIED
Galatians Chapter 2 (What is the major theme of this chapter & why did Paul confront Peter?) Focus on Galatians 2:20
10 Characteristics of the Crucified Life
1) Few will understand
John 16:5-18 How well do you think the apostles understood Jesus’ mission & coming death?
Matthew 26:36:46 How did Jesus resolve his struggle (v.39)
2) You must abandon your own will & your own agenda
Heb 12:2 How was Christ able to overcome His negative feelings toward His death?
1 Cor 2:9-10 How can we find solace in the death to our own will & desires
Matt 26:56 How did the disciples respond when Jesus was arrested:
3) Your intimate spiritual companions will be few
Matt 26:36-39 How did Jesus respond during His time of great stress?
4) Intense times of aloneness with God are required
Matt 26: 57-67 & 1 Peter 3:15-16 (what do they have in common?)
1 Samuel 30:6 (David finding strength)
5) You will be constantly on the witness stand
Heb 13:12-14 (we are always subject to the observation of others)
6) You must go “outside our comfort zone”
Matt 27: 27-31 (reflect on the shame & indignity Jesus endured for us……..prayer thanking Jesus for enduring what you & I deserve)
7) There will be times when your dignity is forfeited
Matt 27:32-44 (In Jesus place? How difficult would it be to surrender your rights & not “come down from the cross & save yourself”?
You must forego your rights
We have many rights as Christians; volunteer to give up all but one: the right as a believer to be filled & led by the Spirit of Christ who dwells within you.
Surrender your other rights to Christ & ask Him to replace them with the supernatural work of the Spirit: with healing, with power, with wisdom.
Matt 27:34, 48 & Heb 2:9
9) You must accept that death is painful
John 20:1-18 (What makes it worth it?)
Matt 27:45-46; Rom 8: 38-39; Heb 13:5
10) Because He was forsaken, you never will be
This is where the papallel ends….Jesus bore the full force of rejection by humanity & separation from the Father. Because He was forsaken, we never will be
Which of the characteristics of the crucified life spoke most personally to you & why?
Tomorrow, the chat itself will be posted here. If you don’t attend, you can make your comments here or ask any questions you may have of Debbie/Eskielover, Recluse or myself. Please feel free to do so.
Come and be blessed beyond your expectations… and so far, we’ve only covered the foundation to the Bible study on Fruit of the Spirit!
