FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT - BIBLE STUDY
We’ve had our second study and I’m happy to report that we even had three new people attend.
For those that don’t know, Debbie/Eskielover is giving the study. We meet on Monday evenings in a private chat room on PsychCentral at 6 pm PDST, 7 pm MDST, 8 pm CDST and 9 pm EDST. You won’t see the room listed on the chat index. You’ll have to go into one of the chat rooms and click on Rooms to see it. The name of the chat room is At Jesus’ Feet, the same as this blog.
It is NOT password protected but anyone disturbing or challenging any of the group will be warned once and then kicked. This is all withing the guidelines that Doc John has posted for any private chat room. A copy of the disturbance will be sent to Admin immediately.
All are welcome and will be received in the name of Jesus with love, acceptance and respect. We do not push our beliefs on anyone. They are there for the taking. If you find that you don’t want to partake, you can leave peacefully and no judgment will be cast upon you. ![]()

recluse1: Debbie had told me about it before in pm when i asked about it
SeptemberMorn: Thanks Debbie. Sometimes I wonder about myself. LOL
Eskielover: the work book isn’t required since I am presenting directly out of it, but it is a wonderful way to be able to do the readings & see what she is saying before I do
SeptemberMorn: Recluse, did you see a “code” when you posted? I did, copied it and it said I had it wrong.
SeptemberMorn: Deb, it’s up to you whether you want to tell others or not.
recluse1: did that to me too at first, IDK what the prob. was
recluse1: but was ok when i went back
SeptemberMorn: HEY! I posted an announcement and was afraid it would be deleted. It’s still there! WoooHoooooo!
eskielover: The series is also made up with DVDs for each week that present much more than what just the week work does…I am including a lot of that too since the workbook has an area for that which I am including too
SeptemberMorn: hmmm… i’ll have to try again.
recluse1: where did you announce at Sept.?
SeptemberMorn: YAAAY! You’re on the ball, Debbie!
SeptemberMorn: in General, Hon.
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, any time you want to get started, Hon.
eskielover: I would actually love to tell others because that would be wonderful to have them be able to own the information & be able to read & look ahead
SeptemberMorn: I’m saving the chat for the others.
SeptemberMorn: whatever suits you
eskielover: You have a group that you have been PM’ing about this?
SeptemberMorn: yez’m. about 15 of them
recluse1: those that answered my post in SF
recluse1: and some others
eskielover: We may want to change the time if it isn’t good for others……I am flexible
SeptemberMorn: and a couple more, yeah…
SeptemberMorn: not too many answered, Deb.
SeptemberMorn: it may take a bit to get this rolling.
recluse1: i am so thankful for the work you have both done to get this going!
eskielover: I am not discouraged in the least…..it will come together….you will see….God doesn’t allow opportunities like this to not turn out for his good
SeptemberMorn: I had thought about doing it but I got my wings when you suggested it. LOL
recluse1: AMEN TO THAT!
SeptemberMorn: It’s not God that I doubt. It’s me.
recluse1: ((((Tomi))))
recluse1: i got bus loads of faith in ya hon
SeptemberMorn: {{{{{{{{Recluse}}}}}}}}}}}} What can I say?
SeptemberMorn: thanks Hon! //33
eskielover: Do not doubt you….because God is working through you…..there is nothing to worry about
recluse1: beautifully said eskie
eskielover: I am having very slow fingers tonight
SeptemberMorn: I hope so Debbie. There are people here that don’t like me.
eskielover: There are many more people who don’t like God too….but that doesn’t discourage him
SeptemberMorn: that’s true!
recluse1: i’m getting all goose bumpy!
eskielover: we will not be liked because of what we say
SeptemberMorn: LOL
SeptemberMorn: that’s true, too
SeptemberMorn: I have to set my eyes on the Lord!
eskielover: we have those little geese wondering around here…lol
recluse1: persecuted for His name sake=blessed in His name as well
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, how do you want to get started? The song or the prayer?
eskielover: the blessings that he give us for standing up for what he has given us to believe are in the future….not always now
SeptemberMorn: I’m hoping for a crown.
SeptemberMorn: but will be just as happy to be in the same place He is!
eskielover: Beautiful stone encrusted one……
SeptemberMorn: LOL
recluse1: earning one right now eskie!
SeptemberMorn: THAT I don’t dare hope.
eskielover: we could start with the song…..just incase anyone is just running late too

SeptemberMorn: LOL
SeptemberMorn: You can listen to it after you leave this site.

eskielover: yes, the computer is forgiving at times
SeptemberMorn:
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, the floor is yours.
eskielover: do you want to continue with the opening prayer Tomi
SeptemberMorn: Ok. Will do
SeptemberMorn: Heavenly Father, We thank you so much for your Spirit moving within this small group
SeptemberMorn: so that we might think of a better way to share You and your words in order to heal and become stronger followers of Christ
SeptemberMorn: Thank you for each one of us here and bless us for your word says that wherever two or more
SeptemberMorn: are gathered in His name, there You will be also
SeptemberMorn: Heavenly Father, we as You to allow us to feel your protection
SeptemberMorn: so that we can feel comfortable and safe
SeptemberMorn: to open up and study Your word freely.
SeptemberMorn: We ask you that the Holy Spirit provide us with the insight
SeptemberMorn: for understanding God’s words and seeing how to apply it
SeptemberMorn: to our daily lives so that our faith will be strengthened
SeptemberMorn: through the study of His Word and that it will continue to make us stronger in our faith daily.
SeptemberMorn: We pray that you give us the strength as a group to be a good Christian support
SeptemberMorn: to each other and show the Christian love and kindness that You have for us
SeptemberMorn: to provide the support to each other what we know is needed as Christians.
SeptemberMorn: I want to pray especially that the Bible study that we have chose
SeptemberMorn: and that You have directed us to choose, which is the Fruit of the Spirit
SeptemberMorn: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
SeptemberMorn: faithfulness, gentleness and self-control expand in us so that it goes out
SeptemberMorn: to a hungry world.
SeptemberMorn: We ask you to provide the words that will give us the healing and strength that we need at this point in time
SeptemberMorn: and that the Holy Spirit will provide the necessary healing that You alone know that we need so that we can go on
SeptemberMorn: from the past hurts, learn from those experiences without dwelling on them
SeptemberMorn: in the future so that we can allow the Fruit of the Spirit to fill our lives
SeptemberMorn: and we can become the Christians that you want from Your children.
SeptemberMorn: We ask this in your son’s holy name
SeptemberMorn: Amen

Fruit of the Spirit - Lesson 1 - Part 2
recluse1: Are we ready ladies?

eskielover: I want to start off by letting bebop also know there is a workbook that is available if interested….it was the one that the formal bible study used along with DV
bebop: yep
bebop: online?
Court_Knee entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: No, she’ll tell you.
bebop: ok
eskielover: It is purchased through Lifeway Christian bookstore
SeptemberMorn: Hi, Court_Knee!
recluse1: welcome court
Court_Knee: hio
eskielover: welcom court_knee
Court_Knee: thanks
SeptemberMorn: Court, Debbie is leading us in a Bible study on the Fruit of the Spirit.
eskielover: It is by Beth Moore…..called Living Beyond Yourself…..Exploring the fruit of the spirit
Court_Knee: the fruit of the spirit not a strawberry!
Court_Knee: (its a dong)
Court_Knee: *song
bebop tells you: errrrrrrrrr
SeptemberMorn: LOL No, not a strawberry
recluse1: Much more wonderful than that!
recluse1: //0
eskielover: there are many fruits that are our fav’s….but these are the ones that the Holy Spirit give us for living our daily lives
eskielover: I am going directly out of the workbook & writing the bible versus if needed just incase a bible is missing….lol
eskielover: Galatians 5:22-23
eskielover: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness
Court_Knee: yup!
Court_Knee: i know a song
Court_Knee: about them
eskielover: faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control. Against such things there is no law
Court_Knee: the fruit of the spirits not a (fruit) the fruit of the spirits not a (fruit) so if you wanna be a (fruit) you might as well hear it, you can’t be a fruit of the spirit cause the fruits are love joy ppeace patience kindness goodness gentleness faithfulness and self control (repeat)
SeptemberMorn: I can already tell that I have to make some changes.
recluse1: I do as well, a lot of work yet to be done
eskielover: the focus of the bible study is to learn about, grow in & experience the work of the Holy Spirit in our life
eskielover: this is a growing process…..we will learn as we go & adapt…that is the wonderful thing about God….he works the same way with us
recluse1: thank God
Court_Knee: do you like the song lol
eskielover: Tonight I am mostly going to get into the Holy Spirit in our life because that is where the fruit come from
SeptemberMorn: I do, Court. I’d like to hear it, though.
Court_Knee: its really fun to sing
Court_Knee: we make the shape of the fruits as we sing it
Court_Knee: i learned it at camp
eskielover: Court…..love the song…..we started with a song & we can sing with you afterwards….ok?
recluse1: let’s see what we can learn from eskie for now//0
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, it’s so exciting to know that the Spirit is working in us.
Court_Knee: ok sorrt
Court_Knee: sorry
recluse1: ((((((court)))))))
eskielover: John 14 is explaining about the trinity….don’t know if you have the bible ….to turn to it
eskielover: Jesus is explaining to the disciples the picture of how he is to die to prepare a place for us in Heaven
recluse1: got it
SeptemberMorn: for those that don’t have a Bible, you can go to BibleGateway.com and type in the Scripture.
eskielover: vs 16 - 17 tells about how he will give you another Counselor
eskielover: to be with you forever…the Spirit of truth.
eskielover: the world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him
eskielover: but you know him, for he lives with you & will be in you
eskielover: I think it’s beautiful how it goes on
eskielover: in 25 & 26
recluse1: yes, me too
kelllie entered the room.
eskielover: That Christ has spoken while still with us, but the counselor, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name
eskielover: Will teach you all things & will remind you of everything I have said to you.
SeptemberMorn: Welcome Kelllie. We’re having a Bible study. You’re welcome to stay.
recluse1: welcome kelllie
eskielover: The Spirit give us so much insight as to the meaning
kelllie: thanks
eskielover: yes. welcome kelllie
Court_Knee: kellie!
eskielover: we are introducing the fruit of the Spirit bible study….welcome
_Sky entered the room.
eskielover: hi Sky….welcome
recluse1: hi sky
_Sky has left the room.
eskielover: The foundational truth that
_Sky entered the room.
_Sky: am I not welcomed?
bebop: hi
eskielover: you are welcome
recluse1: yes welcome
_Sky: I prefer to leave on my own then. Yall tc
_Sky has left the room.
recluse1: Huh?
recluse1: go ahead eskie…
eskielover: Christ in us only guarantees life in heaven
recluse1: amen’
Court_Knee: what the heck
eskielover: but Christ in us grants the invitation to live beyond ourselves on earth….it’s not all about heaven….but we need to be able to have a wonderful life here
eskielover: Psalm 27:13
eskielover: says I am still confident of this
eskielover: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living
eskielover: also John 10:10
eskielover: …..I have come that they may have life & have it to the full
SeptemberMorn: KJV says “in abundance” I like that
eskielover: What God give us through Christ & the Holy Spirit is the ability to LIVE Beyond YOURSELF
eskielover: Living….the importance of this study is how relevant it is in our lives
recluse1: so excited to learn more about it
eskielover: we need to have relevance in our lives now
eskielover: To be filled with the Holy Spirit fills us with the fruit of the Spirit
eskielover: that doesn’t just change our life….IT CHANGES OUR DAY
SeptemberMorn: It really does!
eskielover: it sure does doesn’t it
eskielover: thinking about our purpose in life…..my purpose is beyond me
eskielover: 2 Cor 5:5
eskielover: Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose
SeptemberMorn: WOW! That hits home!
bebop: I think we all spend our lives wondering what our purpose is.
eskielover: & has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come
eskielover: I know I do
eskielover: The spirit helps us with that
eskielover: My circumstances are often beyond me
eskielover: 2 Cor 1:8-9
eskielover: We don’t want you to be uninformed about the hardships
eskielover: we suffered under great pressure far beyond our ability
eskielover: to endure so that we despaired even of life
eskielover: (this was when they were preaching about Christ)
eskielover: But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves
eskielover: but on God, who raises the dead
eskielover: I think for me, the hardships that God gives me are at the time when I am thinking it’s all about me
recluse1: i agree
SeptemberMorn: I can relate to that!
recluse1: it’s when I take my eyes from Him that I fall
SeptemberMorn: exactly! and boy are my knees bruised!
eskielover: Then there are the daily demands that are beyond me
eskielover: Colossians 1:29
eskielover: To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy which so powerfully works in me
eskielover: Everything that is part of our life requires so much that without God, we can’t possibly do what is needed
eskielover: Then comes YOURSELF….the powerful misery-maker
eskielover: we tend to be self -absorbed & living inside of ourselves with all the demands on us
SeptemberMorn: OUCH It’s true.
recluse1: yes, i guess we do
eskielover: Mat 23:25 is beautiful
eskielover: gives hope but takes work….lol
eskielover: Woe to you…….clean the outside of the cup & dish but inside is full of greed & self-indulgence
eskielover: clean the inside & then the outside will be clean
SeptemberMorn: You’re talking about a couple people I know, Deb
recluse1: that applies to everything in our lives…I like that
eskielover: I know it’s amazing when I come to some of that inside stuff, the outside shapes up…..
eskielover: yes, it does apply to everything
eskielover: With the Spirit, we become free at last
eskielover: our Goal:
eskielover: 1) find genuine freedom
eskielover: 2) freedom that only comes through a life filled with the Holy Spirit
eskielover: It is that lie that displays the character traits called the fruit of the Spirit
eskielover: (that’s where this is all heading to is that study)
eskielover: 3) discover that the character of Jesus can be a reality in the life
eskielover: if an EVERYDAY believer
SeptemberMorn: Debbie may I interrupt?
eskielover: sure
SeptemberMorn: you typed “it is t hat lie” did you mean life?
eskielover: I’m looking
SeptemberMorn: under #2
eskielover: yes, It’s that life
SeptemberMorn: good! ok.
eskielover: not a good typo there…oops
SeptemberMorn: LOL I understand “typo”
eskielover: not a Freudian slip by any means
SeptemberMorn: LOL
eskielover: 4) Understanding the fruit of the Spirit & issues involved in living in the Spirit
eskielover: 5)…the tough one
SeptemberMorn: Ut Oh!
eskielover: let Christ have access to those places inside us
SeptemberMorn: Oh…
eskielover: we have problems with & need changing & give him permission to come inside
eskielover: 6)….our key as Christians…..to resist Satan’s hard fight & attempts to discourage us
SeptemberMorn: THAT is the tough one for me.
eskielover: These are all the challenges ahead
recluse1: easy to read…harder to apply
eskielover: When I went through this Bible study starting in Feb….I was really at a place where this was needed
recluse1: i am at that place myself right now. so this is an answered prayer for me
SeptemberMorn: I feel I need it now. Too much of what you have said … IDK… rings a bell or something.
recluse1: I thank God for bringing us all together for this!
eskielover: I know for me….this is wonderful because I didn’t get enough out of it he first time
SeptemberMorn: He had a purpose when the SF got changed
eskielover: I know that God has placed this here for a definite reason
Court_Knee has left the room.
recluse1: took me a while…but yes, i see that now
SeptemberMorn: took me a while, too.
eskielover: I think that also……it seems that he works that way……things change….then he provides the seeds of ideas to make the changes he really wants
SeptemberMorn: something (I wonder who??) kept nudging me onward, though.
recluse1: Holy Spirit at work……
eskielover: the Spirit…..is a good nudger
SeptemberMorn: through you, Recluse.
recluse1: Awww
eskielover: That is the beauty of the Spirit….he knows all the players & puts the pieces together
SeptemberMorn: I had the same idea, but hadn’t done anything with it until you posted
SeptemberMorn: Isn’t it wonderful??
recluse1: yes, wonderful!
SeptemberMorn: Deb, you had been sharing about this Bible study
eskielover: Yes, it was tough because I was sharing then I couldn’t
bebop is currently away.
eskielover: I couldn’t keep in inside
recluse1: but you shared enough to inspire us with it!
SeptemberMorn: now we know why
recluse1: Amen
SeptemberMorn: that’s for sure!
eskielover: But it wasn’t silenced thanks to you all
SeptemberMorn: Thank God you couldn’t keep it inside. LOL
recluse1: thank you for being open enough to be His vessel!
SeptemberMorn: Do we have any prayer requests?
SeptemberMorn: I do.
eskielover: The timing was good because I didn’t know what was going on, so I was able to say
eskielover: I think this is a good time for prayer requests.
SeptemberMorn: God’s perfect timing!
recluse1: YAY!
SeptemberMorn: I’m going to be very open, okay?
recluse1: ok
eskielover: ok
SeptemberMorn: Sky and I got into it pretty heavy when she came back from vacation to the point that I had to put her on ignore. You saw what happened tonight. I’m sure she feels that I kicked her out. I DID NOT! She must have gotten booted.
SeptemberMorn: I think she needs this study and I think s he needs our prayers.
recluse1: i will pray
eskielover: I saw she was welcomed by 2 of us before she left….don’t think she saw our welcome
SeptemberMorn: One more request. My hubby needs our prayers, too. He’s too busy living life inside himself.
eskielover: I will invite her back
recluse1: got it sept
eskielover: I too have a similar prayer request
SeptemberMorn: ty, Debbie
recluse1: ok
SeptemberMorn: ok
eskielover: about my husband
eskielover: He has been living his life totally inside of himself & needs to come to terms with allowing the Spirit into his life
SeptemberMorn: understood
recluse1: making a list..
SeptemberMorn: we are married to similar men, Debbie
SeptemberMorn: Recluse, I’m sending out this chat, Hon.
recluse1: ok
recluse1: i also have a request please..
SeptemberMorn: ok
eskielover: ok
recluse1: i would like for you to pray for my family and I. We are in the midst of a great struggle spiritually and financially. please pray for us to find the answers we seek.
SeptemberMorn: you’ve got it, Hon. HUGS
eskielover: yes…you have my prayers
recluse1: (((((((hugs to all))))))) this has been wonderful. thank you all for being here!
SeptemberMorn:

SeptemberMorn: thank God for this group. There!
recluse1: i think you did wonderful eskie
recluse1: i was wondering how this would work.
SeptemberMorn: Eskie, you might ask Sky if she managed to do macros w hen she did her chats.
eskielover: God is blessing us together….we need each others support & this is wonderful to have it here
recluse1: but you did very well
SeptemberMorn: Yes, you did!
SeptemberMorn: but I understand how hard it is just from doing the prayer. LOL
eskielover: I will ask her about that
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, if you want to dismiss us with a blessing? I didn’t find it or get it done.
recluse1: i will pm her also so she knows she is welcome here, ok.
eskielover: I only got about 1/2 through what was for tonight
eskielover: no we haven’t done that yet
SeptemberMorn: yes, do, Recluse.
SeptemberMorn: LOL I can imagine, Debbie.
eskielover: we can close with the blessing & then we can chat
SeptemberMorn: As long as Sky doesn’t try to correct or argue with Debbie, she’ll be fine.
SeptemberMorn: Ok
recluse1: it will be fine
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, if you will?
eskielover: Sure:
eskielover: The Lord Bless you & keep you
eskielover: The Lord Make his face to shine upon you & give you peace
eskielover: May we go in peace through this week
SeptemberMorn: Amen
eskielover: & be blessed through out our daily lives
eskielover: amen
SeptemberMorn: thank you Debbie. //33

SeptemberMorn: We sure do! Two first timers! YAY!
eskielover: Wonderful…..God is blessing us all
SeptemberMorn: Re, can you start us with a prayer?
recluse1: Heavenly Father, we pray tonight and ask for your protection and guidance. Being here allows us the opportunity to share our faith and develop a deeper relationship with you. Lord help us to be like-minded in the spirit of fellowship.
Defective entered the room.
recluse1: Put up a hedge of protection around us and bless us with your compassion and your grace.
eskielover: welcome defective….we are in prayer….thus the silence
Defective: understood
recluse1: Empower us with the willingness to listen and put into action your plan in our lives.
recluse1: Amen.
SeptemberMorn: In Jesus name, Amen
eskielover: thank you recluse…..that is beautiful
recluse1: Welcome everyone!
recluse1: so glad to see you all!
SeptemberMorn: Glad you could join us, Defective.
eskielover: I want to welcome everyone too
EHkittys: hey guys i’m going to be in and out cause i’m kinda busy
eskielover: that’s ok
recluse1: that’s ok EH
SeptemberMorn: That’s fine, Hon
eskielover: the chat gets saved, so you can always go back & pick up what you miss
SeptemberMorn: Welcome, Bethy! //1
eskielover: I am glad to see you back kelllie also….& Beth & EH & defective & sarah…..wonderful to see new faces too
SweetSunshine: sorry I just sat back down.. tried to take my antibiotic and it went down wrong.
SeptemberMorn: oops! everything okay now?
SweetSunshine: TY everyone
eskielover: no choking…..don’t want to loose anyone
SweetSunshine: I think till I try getting the pill back down lol
SweetSunshine: didnt choke.. upchucked lol
SeptemberMorn: Bethy, you can stop Debbie any time you want to or need to okay? You can ask questions and make comments, too.
SweetSunshine: anywhooo.. go one
SweetSunshine: LOL
recluse1: yes, everyone feel free to participate.
eskielover: we are open for comments also….while I am presenting the points
sarahxxkristine: can i ask a question
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, if you’re ready, you have the floor.
SeptemberMorn: sure!
eskielover: sure
SweetSunshine: You saying Debbie is the only one that has a chance to comment? LOL
SweetSunshine: oooooo sorry i get it now lol
SeptemberMorn: no, silly. YOU do
SweetSunshine: //11
sarahxxkristine: can someone explain to me the different colors of skin and how they came out of adam and eve
sarahxxkristine: i was told it once before but i cant remember
eskielover: wow….that is a whole topic of it’s own
sarahxxkristine: u dont have to answer if u dont wanna
SeptemberMorn: yeah… we’re doing a study on the Fruit of the Spirit
sarahxxkristine: ooo
sarahxxkristine: my bad.
SeptemberMorn:
sarahxxkristine: well i gotta go anyways
sarahxxkristine: bye
SeptemberMorn: bye
SeptemberMorn: good you dropped by
SweetSunshine: bye Sarah
recluse1: tc sarah
eskielover: bye thank you for stopping by
Defective: take care sarah
sarahxxkristine: cya
sarahxxkristine has left the room.
eskielover: we will let her know the chat is saved so she can go back & read it
SeptemberMorn: I’ll send it to her, Debbie
recluse1: tomi, help me remember to give her the blog info later
SeptemberMorn: yes, dear.
recluse1: lol
recluse1: go ahead eskie
eskielover: Tonight, I am still on a bit of an introduction still…..there is a bit to introducing the fruit of the spirit in the workbook & don’t want to miss anything
SweetSunshine: Does the study come from a certain book?
eskielover: yes, the book that is used it the Beth Moore series
eskielover: the fruit of the Spirit….Living beyond yourself
SweetSunshine: gosh this sounds familiar .. I think I might have it here somewhere
SeptemberMorn: great!
eskielover: If you have it that will be wonderful
eskielover: I am following it directly…..it can also be purchased at the LifeWay Christian book stores around the country
EHkittys: sorry i’m getting impatient guys
Court_Knee1580 entered the room.
eskielover: She presents it so wonderfully….I was so moved by it….it changes my life completely from just the sunday (not even that much) Christian
SeptemberMorn: Hi, Court!
recluse1: welcome court knee
eskielover: Starting….with Galatians chap 1
mandazzle1760 entered the room.
Court_Knee1580: hey
eskielover: Pleasing God
eskielover: Galatians 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men or of God?
eskielover: or am I trying to please men?
eskielover: If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
recluse1: BIG question there…
eskielover: Paul was saying that he had been a slave to the law (old testament)
Court_Knee1580: who is in charge here
eskielover: but was set free by redemption in Christ, became a slave to righteousness, a slave of ‘g
eskielover: God
SeptemberMorn: Debbie is teaching, Court, but I do the kicking if we have trouble
Court_Knee1580: no i just have a question is all
Court_Knee1580: sorry
SweetSunshine: nope it was Elizabeth George and Kay Arthur sorry
eskielover: sure….questions are ok
recluse1: questions pertaining to the study are welcome Court!
eskielover: yes, we are focusing on the study during the study….other questions are open after the study
Court_Knee1580: got it
EHkittys has left the room.
eskielover: The question we are looking at right now is Why did Christ die for us?
eskielover: I used to wonder this….too.. why would God go to the trouble of saving us & having Christ die for our sins?
eskielover: Gal 1:4 (to rescue us from evil)
SweetSunshine: so that we have eternal life?
eskielover: Who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God & Father
recluse1: that too Sweet
eskielover: so that we have eternal life….yes, but there is even more which I found interesting
eskielover: 1 Peter 3:18 (It was the Fathers will)
eskielover: For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous
eskielover: to bring you to God.
eskielover: John 3:16 (bring us to his father)
eskielover: For God so loved the world that he gave his one & only
eskielover: son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life….(Beth’s answer)
recluse1: //0
eskielover: Romans 5:8 (he loves us)
eskielover: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:
eskielover: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us
eskielover: and the summary is Psalm 115:3
eskielover: Our god is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him.
eskielover: the 4 reasons were 1) to rescue us from evil; 2) it was the Fathers will; 3) to bring us to his Father; 4) because he loves us……
darco entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: Hi, Darco. Welcome to our Bible Study.
recluse1: welcome
darco: hi
eskielover: The study goes into Paul’s Galatians chapter 1 which discusses Paul’s teaching & telling the Jewish people about Christ & his dying for our sins
darco: how strange that i should enter here when i have been fighting all things to do with church
eskielover: you are welcome….
SeptemberMorn: Do what you need to do for yourself, Darco.
darco: that is the hard part septmorn
SeptemberMorn: you’re welcome to stay and just read then
Court_Knee entered the room.
Court_Knee has left the room.
darco: thanks
eskielover: Paul had gone back to some churches he had previously started & they were falling away from the Christian teachings already
eskielover: That was why he was talking to them about who they were trying to please or not
eskielover: his key message he was trying to get across
eskielover: was Gal 1: 11,12
eskielover: The Gospel I preach is not something man made up
eskielover: & it wasn’t received from man nor taught it….
eskielover: I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ
eskielover: it is important for us to know that salvation is for all & is received by grace through faith in Christ….not by keeping the laws like in the old testament
eskielover: What was fascinating is that Paul persecuted the Christians previously
eskielover: & held onto following the traditions of the law of Moses
eskielover: until he was called by Jesus
eskielover: This is something we can think about ourselves….it that we are set apart from birth as Christians
eskielover: Gal 1: 15-17
eskielover: God set me apart from birth & called me by his grace, was pleased to reveal his son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles
eskielover: This brought up the point of predestination
eskielover: This is not about the fruit of the spirit exactly…but it is about the Spirit being in us & that we are all chosen to be God’s children
eskielover: Eph 1:4-5
eskielover: For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy & blameless in his sight
SeptemberMorn: just a comment; the whole predestination thingy gives me pause.
eskielover: In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure & will
eskielover: I know it does me too sept
eskielover: I have talked about it quite a bit…..& much are in agreement that ALL are predestined…to be believers….it is the freewill that changes that
SeptemberMorn: THAT is the core thing for me.
eskielover: Since God created us all in his image
SeptemberMorn: predestination vs free will
recluse1: i can agree with that eskie, makes sense when you put it in those terms
eskielover: I know it was bothering me when I first read about the predestination in the bible study
eskielover: Just like with Judas that betrayed Christ
SeptemberMorn: yep!
darco: how do you get back to being the believer you once were when you feel like the judgment cast upon you will just be too great to handle?
kelllie tells you: thanks for letting me watch i have to go.
kelllie has left the room.
recluse1: judgment from God or people?
eskielover: Ah….the judgment of God is free when you repent & ask for forgiveness
eskielover: Christ died for our sins…..that was the point to rescue us from evil
recluse1: yes amen and thank God!
SeptemberMorn: by accepting Christ and his blood sacrifice, you are justified… “just as if” I hadn’t sinned
eskielover: as long as we repent of the sin & stop the sin we repent for……..then we are forgiven & the slate is cleaned
darco: mostly from GOD - failure you can most times handle it is when you feel that you have disappointed the ultimate Being
recluse1: we all fail and come short, but He loves us and forgives us anyway. That’s the beauty of His grace and mercy!
eskielover: God knows that we all disappoint him…that was why he sent Christ to die for our Sins
SeptemberMorn: that fear goes away the longer you walk with Him
SeptemberMorn: exactly, Recluse. : )
recluse1: would love to talk to you more about it here shortly Darco!
eskielover: it does take time to understand that concept because we are human & we aren’t able to forgive like God
SeptemberMorn: oooo boy! I’ll say!
SeptemberMorn: He knows our weaknesses, though and loves us anyway
SweetSunshine: //33
eskielover: this will be a great discussion later……& it is actually a part of the fruit of the spirit in later parts of this study
SeptemberMorn: //11
darco: i am yearning to be back in His fold just don’t know what is holding me back!
recluse1: (((((darco))))) then you have found a good start here.
eskielover: I was the same way….then I went to this bible study in Feb……I was amazed at how it brought me back to the Christianity I had lost
darco: ok
eskielover: Back in the bible study, Paul was having problems with the churches dealing with false teaching…as we have problems with daily
eskielover: This is another topic that is introducing the fruit of the Spirit….giving us food for thought as we continue the study
eskielover: Why are Christians so susceptible to false teaching?
recluse1: IDK
eskielover: Churches nourished on truth it is easy for infiltration of lies & poison of false doctrine to set in
SeptemberMorn: one word: Satan
eskielover: Mat 24: 24
darco: because they fear their own insecurities?
eskielover: For false Christs & false prophets will appear & perform great signs
eskielover: & miracles to deceive even the elect
eskielover: Motivation of false teachers greedy for power, position & popularity.
recluse1: please forgive me, but not sure I understood the previous verse….
eskielover: They draw attention to themselves & away from the WORD so followers have a hard time or can’t discern Truth from lies….very subtle
recluse1: TY, for the clarification. i got it now.
EHkittys entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: wb
EHkittys: ty
eskielover: It is warning about people who will say they are Christ…& there will be false prophets telling of a savior that isn’t Christ but claiming to be
SeptemberMorn: Like that guy in Fla that says Jesus is dead but that HE is Jesus
recluse1: ok
eskielover: they even have the ability to perform signs & miracles that can be strong enough to deceive us & sound like being Christian
eskielover: They try to commercialize Christian faith
eskielover: The sad part is that sometimes we can’t really see it & it looks like the real thing….but God knows & they will be judged in the end by God
eskielover: The bible study pointed out 4 major reasons why Christians are easy targets
recluse1: i think a situation like that is when we REALLY need to be open to the Holy Spirits voice for guidance and direction
eskielover: 1) If we don’t know the truth & are Ignorant of God’s word, we are easy targets for false teaching because we just don’t know better
eskielover: 2) It is easy to get bored with constant devotion to One & only One if you tend to seek some or a lot of thrills
eskielover: & sensationalism….When you become uninterested in growing in God’s work & faith
eskielover: 3) We try to win the approval & affirmation of someone
SeptemberMorn present
eskielover: Our worldly nature seeks someone’s approval, their acceptance, we need to feel like we fit in
eskielover: These desires tent to cause us to make poor choices. We constantly try something else to see if that will work better at getting their attention
eskielover: approval, acceptance, or just trying to fit in
EHkittys is going to Lobby
EHkittys has left the room.
recluse1: that is a big temptation sometimes
eskielover: oops….only 3 major reasons…not 4
eskielover: we can ask…how can we guard against false teachers /prophets?
recluse1: i like how that was broken down. makes me think about my potential weaknesses
eskielover: yes…..it points out the major areas of weaknesses
eskielover: I know for me, that reading the word provides me the information to look for
SeptemberMorn: needing approval for me
eskielover: The bible versus that support this are 2 Peter 2:1-2 for #1, 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 for #2, & Gal 1:10 for #3
eskielover: That was the questioning in Gal 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men or of God?
EHkittys entered the room.
Court_Knee1580: has anyone
Court_Knee1580: read
recluse1: just want to say that I appreciate your lending scripture for us to read for ourselves on what we are discussing
Court_Knee1580: mark
eskielover: I thought the idea of getting bored was quite interesting too
Court_Knee1580: chapter 5
May 22nd, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Fruit of the Spirit - Lesson 2 - Part 2
recluse1: Not sure, is there something you want to share?
take care all
Only One holds the future in His hands & knows your part in that future.

SeptemberMorn: Is Debbie done?
eskielover: That is about healing
eskielover: not quite yet
Court_Knee1580: which one is debbie
SeptemberMorn: Eskielover, Court
eskielover: I thought I would end with God’s relationship with man
eskielover: to finish off tonight on a very positive note
SeptemberMorn: go for it!
eskielover: 1) God never asks anything of us to make himself look better
eskielover: 2) The demands He makes on our lives are NEVER for his personal gain.
eskielover: 3) We cannot make Him anymore God than He already is. He would be no less Lord if no one believed.
SeptemberMorn: AMEN!
Court_Knee1580 has left the room.
eskielover: 4) Every urge & exhortation of God to us is because He desires that we have the pleasure of knowing, serving, & sharing Him
eskielover: 5) God has sovereign right to be the only authority over our lives for our good, for our completion, & for conforming our lives to that of His Son. Why is seeking approval of man harmful to us?
Defective: I have to go but thanks for letting me listen in
Defective has left the room.
eskielover: 6) Approval & servanthood are connected because we become immediate slaves to the person(s) we seek approval from
eskielover: servanthood
eskielover: 7) Only One you can trust to constantly lookout for your best interest
eskielover:
eskielover: 9) Only One cares for you with perfect & unconditional Love
Court_Knee entered the room.
Court_Knee: boooooooooooted
eskielover: 10) Only One can make all things work together for good Rom 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose
SeptemberMorn: wb
Court_Knee: thanks
eskielover: oops, I cleared my chat area…..blank screen
SeptemberMorn: you were on 10
eskielover: 11) Only One can safely & gloriously enslave us.
eskielover: We need to realize that it’s ok go get the approval & please others when we are seeking to please God first
recluse1: great point
eskielover: you can read Rom 6: 19-23..for the Bible’s explanation on this
SeptemberMorn: I’d rather please God even if it makes others angry
eskielover: We can ask ourselves…what were we enslaved to before believing in Christ?
eskielover: What are we enslaved not we believe in Christ?
darco: but when you please others that are created in His image do you not then please Him?
eskielover: only if you are doing what pleases God above all else
SeptemberMorn: That’s a fine line, Darco
eskielover: If you make pleasing God & following God’s word the highest priority…..they if it pleases others fine….otherwise, just because they are created in His image doesn’t mean they are in his image
SeptemberMorn: you bet!
SeptemberMorn: I know all about that!
eskielover: The last point is that God provides when we are obedient to his word
eskielover: That supporting scripture is Isaiah 48:17-19
darco: sorry don’t mean to interrupt if your are still busy with bible sessions - i do apologize
eskielover: I am basically finished at this point
SeptemberMorn: no problem, Hon
Court_Knee: well i have to go guys
Court_Knee: good night
eskielover: the only question I was going to leave us with is how do we seek God?
Court_Knee:
recluse1: tc court
eskielover: nite Court….glad you could be here
SeptemberMorn: night C
Court_Knee: mmhm
SeptemberMorn: Court?
Court_Knee: yup?
SeptemberMorn: why don’t you ask Sky your question?
Court_Knee: because sky hates me?
SeptemberMorn: LOL No she doesn’t. She’d be happy to answer you.
Court_Knee: riiight
recluse1: awww, you can pm me when you have time if you like hon.
eskielover: your question was about the colors of the skins:
darco: eskie so how do we seek God?
SeptemberMorn: She knows a lot about that subject
Court_Knee: my question?
Court_Knee: no it wasn’t about colors
recluse1: i think that was sarah eskie
SeptemberMorn: I know what Court is talking about. Mark 5
eskielover: sorry, I lost the question when I accidentally cleared my screen
eskielover: oh yes, mark 5
Court_Knee: believe me; sky hates me. I am an easy person to hate. so i will just save my question for another time
SeptemberMorn: suit yourself, Hon.
eskielover: You can PM me or we can find a chat time if you would like court
Court_Knee: night!
SeptemberMorn: Ok… how do we seek God?
recluse1: gnight
darco: ‘the only question i was going to leave us with is how do we seek God?”
Court_Knee: thanks eskie
Court_Knee has left the room.
eskielover: Yes, I thought I would leave you with a question to think about in terms of what has been studied
recluse1: wow, now that is something to really make your wheels turn.
SeptemberMorn: Oh, I was gonna give an answer. LOL
recluse1: go for it
darco: please do!
eskielover: yes…giving an answer is wonderful
SeptemberMorn: first you need to know who God is. You do that by reading His Word.
SeptemberMorn: The Bible.
SeptemberMorn: by asking questions of those you know, know Him.
SeptemberMorn: you go from there
recluse1: who He is to me personally…my Father, my creator
recluse1: My protector and my strength
SeptemberMorn: exactly!
SeptemberMorn: It’s a strictly personal experience.
eskielover: You have to be interested in wanting to know God…..seek & you will find, knock & it will be opened unto you
darco: i admire your faith
SeptemberMorn: thank you, Debbie!
eskielover: He will not force himself on us unless we want him either
SeptemberMorn: Darco, it’s a journey.
eskielover: It’s an awesome journey
SeptemberMorn: it sure is!
recluse1: I am also just finding my way back darco.
eskielover: so am I
recluse1: just in this past year actually
recluse1: but i am so eager to learn and share and grow in my faith
eskielover: I was born into a Christian family….from birth…Sunday school, church….believed but was bored & wanted to think farther
darco: i have to be honest - i have not found my way back - but i know i want to
SeptemberMorn: so am I, because God has revealed Himself to me in so many wonderful ways, I want…. MORE!
eskielover: That’s the starting place is wanting to
recluse1: yep, great starting place!
SeptemberMorn: you bet!
eskielover: I saw God directing my life….it wasn’t until I was invited to this bible study in Feb that it really made sense in my life & God & Christ came into understanding
recluse1: so glad all of you joined us here. I have really enjoyed this and i hope you have as well
eskielover: I started understanding how God really fit into all parts of my life…..
SeptemberMorn: do we have time for one more song?
eskielover: I know that when we really get into the meat of this study….it’s really awesome
darco: but i do not want to go back to Him still tainted - and i know if i truly repent the Holy Spirit will wash me clean. I just feel that I have done these things and I should get rid before seeking Him again.
SeptemberMorn: He’ll help you get rid of them, Darco
recluse1: I understand what you are saying darco
eskielover: You will find that when the Holy Spirit helps you understand & see things you can’t understand as a human, this will happen
recluse1: I was there too, felt ashamed like I wasn’t good enough to be back with Him yet.
eskielover: you will feel things you didn’t believe you could feel & understand how God’s love sent Christ to wash you clean
recluse1: But someone told me this and it really hit me hard
eskielover: There were many things I did that were completely against God’s will
SeptemberMorn: we aren’t saved by our own works but by the blood of Jesus Christ
recluse1: We aren’t good enough to stay out and aren’t too good to be in
SeptemberMorn: we can’t do anything on our own. We need Him to help us and lead us.
eskielover: I like that recluse
recluse1: with Him is where we always belong, no matter where we find our self in life
eskielover: He always has a place for us & loves us no matter what we do…..the love is the first fruit of the spirit that we will be talking about….that unconditional love that only comes through the Holy Spirit & doesn’t exist anywhere else
SeptemberMorn: Darco, may I send you links to a couple of songs that tell it like it is? I relate pretty heavily to music.
SeptemberMorn: I’ll send them to you by PM, if you don’t mind.
recluse1: so thankful for each of you! thank you all for being here and sharing. I have truly enjoyed this!
darco: i know the scripture, i know His teaching, once i fully walked in the light!
darco: dont mind
SeptemberMorn: then you know you can come back home.
eskielover: I know what you are talking about….then I came to a point where I thought that believing was just the safest choice
SeptemberMorn: If you all don’t mind, I have one more song. It goes so well with this Bible Study.
recluse1: yea, go ahead.
eskielover: That would be wonderful Tomi
darco: go ahead
SeptemberMorn: besides, I told Darco that we don’t “push”
darco: //6
eskielover: we dont…..just answer when asked
SeptemberMorn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXj3O2TeMzo
SeptemberMorn: LOL
SeptemberMorn: The words are…
recluse1: i hope i wasn’t pushing. just trying to be of help
eskielover has left the room.
SeptemberMorn: Fully alive in your Spirit
SeptemberMorn: Lord, make me fully alive
eskielover entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: Fully aware of your presence, Lord
SeptemberMorn: Totally, fully alive x2
mandazzle1760: i’m gonna go to sleep now. it was nice to listen though.
SeptemberMorn: Don’t let me miss all the glory around me
recluse1: tc mandazzle
eskielover: thanks Mandy…..tc
SeptemberMorn: Waiting for Heaven someday to come
recluse1: come back
SeptemberMorn: Open m y mind to miraculous Mondays
mandazzle1760: thanks, tc everyone. //33
mandazzle1760 has left the room.
SeptemberMorn: And make my feet march to eternity’s drum
eskielover: we appreciated you being here Mandy
EHkittys: i’m not feeling well guys g2g
SeptemberMorn: Fully alive in Your Spirit, Lord
SeptemberMorn: make me fully alive
recluse1: tc EH. feel better soon
eskielover: nite EH….hope you feel better
SeptemberMorn: Fully aware of your presence, Lord
SeptemberMorn: Totally, fully alive
EHkittys: say a prayer for me please
SeptemberMorn: Don’t make wait for tomorrows forever
recluse1: promise! will do
EHkittys: ok thanks bye
SeptemberMorn: To say what I feel to those I hold dear
EHkittys has left the room.
SeptemberMorn: Risking the pain and joys of loving
SeptemberMorn: Keep me awake and alive while I’m here
SeptemberMorn: Fully Alive in Your Spirit, Lord
SeptemberMorn: make me fully alive
SeptemberMorn: Fully aware of Your presence, Lord
SeptemberMorn: Totally, fully alive
SeptemberMorn: end…
recluse1: beautiful song choice Tomi
darco: //34
SeptemberMorn: ty… I came upon it by “accident”
recluse1: love it when that happens
eskielover: that was wonderful Tomi…thank you
SeptemberMorn: me too! It was so exciting!
recluse1: someone want to close with requests and prayer?
darco: yes if i could a request?
SeptemberMorn: My requests are the same but I do have a small “thank you”
SeptemberMorn: sure
eskielover: Last week, we put together a prayer request list
SweetSunshine: had a prayer answered today.. and it should be on the news soon here. The dispute on the company’s behalf of not giving the employees at Toms work unemployment benefits was overturned. They will get the unemployment checks for sure now!!!
eskielover: I think that is a wonderful go ahead darco
SeptemberMorn: Praise God!!
recluse1: alright! that’s great sunshine
SweetSunshine: yep!~
SeptemberMorn: Darco, anything specific?
darco: my reguest is that you pray for all those that by accident stumble on Gods word and that it touch even a small part so that they could find the courage to come back and glorify His name.
SeptemberMorn: AMEN!
eskielover: yes, amen
recluse1: yes, AMEN, wonderful request!
SeptemberMorn: Re, how about you?
SeptemberMorn: how are your situations?
recluse1: Request prayer for my family
SeptemberMorn: you got it!
SeptemberMorn: Debbie?
eskielover: for guidance in what to do since refi fell trough
SeptemberMorn: you bet!
eskielover: with going through with the divorce & all
SeptemberMorn: Bethy, I’ve got you down for a thank you/praise. Any requests?
eskielover: wanted to let all know about the prayers for our group
SeptemberMorn: you got it, Debbie. OH yeah!
recluse1: also ask that God touch and bless each person that was here, he knows all our needs.
SeptemberMorn: yep
SeptemberMorn: Debbie has some wonderful news!
recluse1: oh great!
SweetSunshine: Just that hubby’s work figures something out to get back to work or he finds another job soon. Benefits run out Wednesday. And that my new endeavor of losing weight is a success
SeptemberMorn: Got it, Hon!
eskielover: The bible study group that I attended which was this study….we had a party & I told them about this group & how it was forming & how it came to be
recluse1: yes…
eskielover: they were so excited at hearing about how it is on the internet
eskielover: they are all praying for us & for God’s word to be able to be heard loud & clear & freely
recluse1: YAY! that is wonderful news!
SweetSunshine: Sounds great Debbie!
SeptemberMorn: YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! Thank you, Jesus!!
eskielover: That is a group of about 25….so that is wonderful
SeptemberMorn: it sure is!
recluse1: OH, I’ve got chills. that is wonderful

SeptemberMorn: yes
eskielover: yes…sure can
SeptemberMorn: go for it then.
eskielover: We want to thank you God for bringing us together to start this week studying your Word
eskielover: Pray that the Holy Spirit will take these words & let them come alive within us throughout the week
eskielover: so that we can think about what we do in light of your Word
eskielover: We pray that you will look over us & guide us throughout the week & keep us safe from all harm.
eskielover: We pray this in Jesus Name
eskielover: The Lord bless you & keep you
eskielover: The Lord make his face shine upon you & be gracious to you
eskielover: The Lord turn his face toward you & give you peace
eskielover: Go in peace…..Amen
SeptemberMorn: Amen

SeptemberMorn: just all of a sudden? LOL
eskielover: I forget to eat sometimes when I am doing other things
SeptemberMorn: I do too. Don’t feel bad.

eskielover: I was wondering about changing font color to see if it would stand out a bit more….any suggestions?
eskielover: what king of eye surgery?
SeptemberMorn: I’m a little anxious, Recluse, but otherwise, okay.
eskielover: kind
greenpepper: well had to redo a cataract surgery…..
SeptemberMorn: Looks good, Debbie! Good thinking!
anna342 entered the room.
greenpepper: had some problems
anna342: hi
recluse1: hi anna!
SeptemberMorn: Hi, Anna!
eskielover: hi anna….welcome
greenpepper: hi anna
recluse1: i hope everything works out this time around pepper
greenpepper: thanks
anna342: ty
greenpepper: hoping when the stitches come out things will be better….trying not to worry about it
eskielover: cataract surgery is usually a pretty perfected surgery now….guess there is always the exception
SeptemberMorn: eewww you got stitches?
recluse1: i can’t even imagine…yeesh
greenpepper: well i had the multifocal lenses……..new technology…….so not yet exactly perfected…..
SeptemberMorn: hubby has had it done on both eyes
recluse1: i’m squinting over here just thinking about it!
greenpepper: my pupil size prevented the five zones to see properly in dim/night lighting ….had tons of ghosting
SeptemberMorn: yeow! that would be tough!
recluse1: how r u anna?
eskielover: that must have been impossible to see much
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, any time you’re ready, Hon
greenpepper: lol iasked passengers to help out driving at night and let me know if i need to go alittle to the left or right
greenpepper: talk about people getting panicked…lol
SeptemberMorn: LOL
eskielover: I am ready anytime you are….good time to start
anna342: sorry, yeh, i’m ok
SeptemberMorn: Ok… I’ve chosen a song for today’s prayer. I hope you don’t mind.
recluse1: told confusedgurl I would ask for prayer for her. having surgery soon.
recluse1: so please remember her.
SeptemberMorn: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HeP8R68p8uo&feature=related
SeptemberMorn: Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down
SeptemberMorn: Oh Comforter and Friend
unpredictable entered the room.
recluse12421 entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down (2X)
SeptemberMorn: Let Your power fall
recluse12421 has left the room.
unpredictable has left the room.
SeptemberMorn: Let Your voice be heard Come and change our hearts
recluse12430 entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: As we stand on Your word Holy Spirit, rain down
SeptemberMorn: No eye has seen, no ear has heard
SeptemberMorn: No mind can know what God has in store
recluse12430 has left the room.
SeptemberMorn: So open up heaven, open it wide
SeptemberMorn: Over Your church and over our lives
SeptemberMorn: Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down
SeptemberMorn: Oh Comforter and Friend How we need Your touch again
SeptemberMorn: Holy Spirit, rain down, rain down
SeptemberMorn: Let Your power fall Let Your voice be heard
SeptemberMorn: Come and change our hearts
SeptemberMorn: As we stand on Your word Holy Spirit, rain down
SeptemberMorn: In Jesus name we pray, Amen
greenpepper: amen
eskielover: thank you Tomi, That is beautiful
eskielover: amen
recluse1: AMEN! that was lovely
SeptemberMorn: thank you. It’s wonderous how the Holy Spirit works!
SeptemberMorn: If ya’ll didn’t go to youtube just now, please listen to it later. It’s beautiful!
eskielover: It was amazing..I grew up knowing about the Holy Spirit….it wasn’t until just lately I understood what an important role the Spirit has in our lives
greenpepper: mmm not sure i do understand
recluse1: so thankful you are sharing it with us too!
SeptemberMorn: What don’t you understand, Pepper?
greenpepper: the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives…….i guess its something you experience to understand ? ?
eskielover: this bible study was what brought it to understanding for me
SeptemberMorn: maybe… I know I feel more in God’s plan now that we’ve been in this Bible Study. Things happen that have no explanation other than His leading
greenpepper: wow
recluse1: we all experience it daily…just sometimes we aren’t able to recognize
SeptemberMorn: The Joy is there, too, even through hard times.
eskielover: It
greenpepper: i guess its one of those things i believe you believe
eskielover: I
SeptemberMorn: you’ll believe it, too, as time goes on, Pepper.
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, you okay?
anna342: me?
SeptemberMorn: Eskielover, Hon
eskielover: having typing problems….sorry…sitky key…got me or something
eskielover: ok now
anna342: ohh gd gd, i didn’t think you knew my real name!!
SeptemberMorn: whew!
SeptemberMorn: Anna, I didn’t! LOL
_Sky entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: no worries, Anna.
eskielover: hi sky…welcme….just getting started
_Sky: oooo lots of pale faces
_Sky: Ok thanks!
recluse1: God gives us the Holy Spirit to live in us and communicate with us, kind of like Christ’s consciousness within ourself,
recluse1: hi…welcome
recluse1: did that make any sense Pepper?
eskielover: God sent the Holy spirit after Christ ws raised from the dead so that we would have guidance as Christ was here on earth
greenpepper: kind of……..sometimes its like reading how to type…and without typing it seems foreign
recluse1: lol, i understand. we are all learning here.
eskielover: will continue from last week
SeptemberMorn: pretty soon, you’ll be “typing”, Pepper
greenpepper:
_Sky: could everyone go bold for me?
SeptemberMorn: don’t hesitate to ask Eski any guestions, ok?
recluse1: 1 sec
greenpepper: how do u do bold?
eskielover: I left off with the question of what will be the basis for rewards from Christ…..Rev 22:12
_Sky: click on the B in the lower left corner
greenpepper: nvmd
_Sky:
_Sky:
SeptemberMorn: There’s a B at the botttom of your screen…
SeptemberMorn: lol you got it
recluse1: got it
eskielover: testing
eskielover: that looks bold to me????
SeptemberMorn: yes, Deb
greenpepper: bold helps me too……thanks for suggesting it sky
eskielover: It does look better
_Sky: tks
recluse1: no prob!
SeptemberMorn: only drawback is that if you write something long, you lose it on the right hand side.
_Sky: We’re studying Revelation?
SeptemberMorn: you can slide your participants box and make it smaller
SeptemberMorn: No, Fruit of the Spirit, Sky
recluse1: just scripture reference i think sky
eskielover: no we are introducing the fruit of the spirit….& the works of the spirit & how they show in our lives…using other books of the bible also
_Sky has left the room.
eskielover: We know that judgment is by grace, but it is also by works
greenpepper: its by works?
eskielover: Rev 22:12 the fact is that the works happen only because of the grace
eskielover: Give to everyone according to what he has done
anna342 has left the room.
eskielover: Romans 2:6 explaines it
eskielover: Paul not contradicting that a person is not saved by what he does but by faith in what Christ does for him
eskielover: The good words of the believer give evidence that he has faith
eskielover: seen good works give evidence of unseen faith
eskielover: it is the spirit that is in us that allows us to do the good works
eskielover: Eph 2:8-10
eskielover: explaines that we are god’s workmanship
eskielover: created in Christ Jesus to do good works
eskielover: doing good works but not believing in Christ….god knows our hearts that is the final determination
eskielover: That is the spirit in us that gives us the ability to do the works according to God’s desire
SeptemberMorn: doing good works without the love of God… are empty
eskielover: exactly
greenpepper: mmm
recluse1: that is a new way of looking at it for me
recluse1: always saw it as my listening to the spirit
eskielover: The next area that we are going to look at is what the 10 characteristics are of living the crucified life
greenpepper: if its the spirit allows us to do good works………can we be held accountable for good works?
SeptemberMorn: doing good things in the name of Jesus because that’s what he would have done is what counts
recluse1: cool to see it is the spirit within me
eskielover: The good works come from our love of God
SeptemberMorn: you get credit for doing good works in Jesus’ name, Pepper
SeptemberMorn: exactly, Debbie
eskielover: that causes us to do the good works….but it isn’t the good works that get’s us to heaven
recluse1: right!
eskielover: they go hand in hand…..loving God, having the Spirit in us to guide our actions, believing in Christ is what allows the Holy Spirit into our hearts
greenpepper: get credit? is that the jewel thing on our heads or something like that?
greenpepper:

Fruit of the Spirit - Lesson 3 - Part 2
SeptemberMorn: whenever I feel I need to talk about some deep pain, there is never anyone

we must for go our rights

eskielover: The rose garden it a wonderful place for being alone
greenpepper: ……think i’m lost……
SeptemberMorn: available to me. That’s when I know He wants me to talk to HIM about it.
SeptemberMorn: where did we lose you, Pepper?
eskielover: yes, where did we loose you…..will try to help
greenpepper: what are these 5 characteristics of again? sorry
eskielover: 1) Few will understand us
eskielover: 2) You must abandon your own will & your own agenda
eskielover: 3) your intimate spiritual companions will be few
SeptemberMorn: a “crucified life” Pepper
SeptemberMorn: having given up our will to God
greenpepper: lost the forest for the trees
SeptemberMorn:
eskielover: I’m sorry….yes, it’s what our life is like believing & living our lives with Christ as our crucified savior
greenpepper: ok thanks….couldn’t scroll that far back
Metaphysical entered the room.
eskielover: sorry
Metaphysical: howdy lil buckaroos
recluse1: welcome MP
SeptemberMorn: Hi, Meta. We’re in the middle of a Bible study.
Metaphysical: want me to leave?
SeptemberMorn: no
recluse1: welcome to join us
mssumom: God certainly lead me back here and specifically to this room at a time when I needed it most. I don’t want to interrupt just had to put that in here though.
eskielover: 5) You will be constantly on the witness stand
SeptemberMorn gives MMS a biiiiig hug!
recluse1: ((((((mssumom))))
eskielover: Hebrews 13: 12-14
SeptemberMorn: Recluse, see that? We’re always on the witness stand.
Metaphysical: long time atheist, recently started going to catholic church
Metaphysical: some of you i have met, most I haven’t
SeptemberMorn: you can sit and learn, MP
bebop: hi meta and congrats!
recluse1: yes, i see. TY for the pep talk too BTW
SeptemberMorn: //33
eskielover: Christ suffered outside of Jerusalem for our sins
bebop: may I address the witness stand?
recluse1: sure
SeptemberMorn: lol go for it
bebop: the way I interpret that is that once we become christians we are upheld to a higher standard. we are what people see.
eskielover: Jesus bore shame
bebop: in our attitudes, in our language, in our behavior
eskielover: & disgrace….we must be willing to face the same
recluse1: i am in ageement with that Be
SeptemberMorn: we certainly are!
eskielover: Jesus suffered outside of Jerusalem
bebop: we are forever changed and need to come across to others as changed
eskielover: we must be willing to leave the comforts of home for him
recluse1: yes, others should be able to see His love through our lives
eskielover: Jesus was not ashamed of us…we should not be ashaed of HIm
recluse1: amen, eskie
bebop: exactly but it is so much more than the love we are suppose to show others
recluse1: much more, yes
greenpepper: leave the comforts of home? all become missionaries or something?
bebop: I am very disturbed by some I know irl that are suppose to be christians. it saddens me
eskielover: not exactly
SeptemberMorn: only if the Holy Spirit leads you that way, Pepper. You just need to be willing.
greenpepper: or step out in faith to where the HS prompts us
recluse1: more like witnesses of Christ I think Pepper
eskielover: Pepper, there are many times when the choices we have to make aren’t the popular ones
eskielover: It just means that we can’t sit back in our status quo
recluse1: it’s not always easy to live a life that is pleasing to God
SeptemberMorn: Pepper, you’ve got it right
recluse1: your last comment says it well Pepper
eskielover: you said it perfectly Pepper
mssumom: very well said
eskielover: 6) there will be times when God forces us outside our comfort zone
bebop: you have to really listen to your heart. It could be the Holy Spirit telling you where to go and what to do
greenpepper: thinks still got cotton in the ears of my heart……dont hear that much
Metaphysical is going to Support Chat
Metaphysical has left the room.
eskielover: Matt 27:27-31 talks about how they scorned Christ before his crucifiction
bebop: pepper that is when that prayer closet is really needed
eskielover: the shame & indignity he endured for us…..definitely not a comfort zone
recluse1: yes, much revealed by power of prayer Be
bebop: yes I agree hon. humble ourselves to Him
eskielover: that’s ok Pepper…..at first, it’s just a faint whisper
eskielover: but that’s ok
greenpepper: ……thanks for the encouragement
eskielover: 7th characteristics of our life in the Crucified Christ is that there are times when our dignity is forfeited
SeptemberMorn: that’s what it’s all about, Pepper
eskielover: we all need encouragement Pepper….that’s why fellowship with other Christians is so important
eskielover: Matt 27:32-44 talks about Christ surrendering his rights when he had the power to come down from the cross to save himself, but didn’t because it was God’s will & plan
eskielover: How much strength would we have had to follow through in that situation?
recluse1: no doubt more than I have got!
bebop: we would have died while we were being beaten
SeptemberMorn: for sure!
greenpepper: it takes me much strength even in little things……………like not to return hatred with hatred…………
greenpepper: that didnt come out right…….but i know what i meant….lol
bebop: pepper try loving not hatred. that is what we as christians are suppose to do.
eskielover: that is part of the fruit of the spirit….self control when we get to that…the Spirit gives us the strength to not return hatred with hatred
SeptemberMorn: I understood, Pepper
recluse1: just want to say, i am really loving being here and all sharing and learning together.
eskielover: it’s our growing in God with the Holy Spirit in us where we get the ability to live as God want us to
eskielover: I love the sharing with everyone too…..
recluse1: amen and this is helping me soo much
eskielover: it’s wonderful that the bible study is also sharing
eskielover: I think this is exciting
SeptemberMorn: I feel so “well fed”! LOL
recluse1: full of the Spirit!
greenpepper: lol sept
eskielover: The Spirit is working as we prayed for
SophiaG entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: Pepper, you know how you feel when you’ve had a really, really good meal?
recluse1: wb sophia
eskielover:
SophiaG is going to Social Chat
SophiaG has left the room.
SophiaG entered the room.
SophiaG: ok i’m staying now =)
SeptemberMorn: lol ok
eskielover: he could have called for all the help of heaven but he followed God’s will
greenpepper: oh ya sept………..sure do…….i was eating a huge piece of cheese when you said that….
SeptemberMorn:
eskielover: & then in Matt 27:34, 48, Christ even refuese the drink offered him while on the cross to dull the pain
greenpepper: ohhhh forego or let go…….of our rights
recluse1: samething
recluse1: give up
SophiaG: why didnt he accept the drink?
greenpepper: ya i first read ‘go for our rights’
bebop: it was not God’s will that he drink it
SophiaG: ohh
SeptemberMorn: it was a sponge soaked in water and vinegar
SophiaG: wasnt it wine?
SeptemberMorn: no
eskielover: It was also that it was an anesthetic to dull the pain
eskielover: according to the study bible I read
recluse1: He was to suffer for all the sins according to God’s plan for Him
SeptemberMorn: I never knew it had an anesthetic in it
SophiaG: well if it was wine…
eskielover: In Heb 2:9, that explaines that
SophiaG: it’d make sense to me that it’d be anesthetizing
SophiaG has left the room.
bebop: remind me to get the velcro
SophiaG entered the room.
eskielover: 9) we must accept that death is painful
greenpepper: we do?
SophiaG has left the room.
bebop grabs the velcro
SeptemberMorn: lol
eskielover: even though our experience differs from that of Christ
bebop: sorry that is so disrupting
eskielover: that’s ok
eskielover: these computer links do that at times
eskielover: & 10) Because he was forsaken, we never will be
eskielover: That is something we can’t even experience is the depth of what Christ went through with all our sins he was dying for
greenpepper: ptl Jesus for bearing our sins
SeptemberMorn: amen!
eskielover: This is probably a good place to end the bible study tonight….
bebop: no way can we imagine the love He has for us.
eskielover: we can continue with discussion
SeptemberMorn: especially those of us who have never experienced unconditional love in this life
greenpepper: can i just ask one question?
mssumom: A big AMEN to that bebop
recluse1: no way to remotely measure a love that strong!
recluse1: sure GP
eskielover: sure Pepper
greenpepper: crucified to Christ means ?
SeptemberMorn: all the questions you have, Pepper
greenpepper: surrendering (dying) our will to Christ? ?
eskielover: It means that we believe that he has died for our sins
SeptemberMorn: Giving up our own will
SeptemberMorn: and living like God wants us to.
SeptemberMorn: To know exactly, we need to listen to the Holy Spirit.
recluse1: no matter our personal pain in doing so
SeptemberMorn: I think you’re doing it just by being here, Pepper.
bebop: it is very very hard for us to completely surrender ourselves because we are of flesh.
greenpepper: yes sept to your earlier comment about unconditional love…………..i’m still looking for the strings
eskielover: that is the first fruit of the spirit that we will touch on is LOVE
SophiaG entered the room.
recluse1: lol, wb sophia
eskielover: there are several types of love
greenpepper: sometimes i doubt my salivation and commitment to our Lord………i fear my heart is too damaged/hardened………..i do not experience a lot of what i hear other people share
eskielover: several types
SeptemberMorn: the only strings God has on his love is that you love Him back
eskielover: Pepper…..I have been there too
SeptemberMorn: screen freeze
SeptemberMorn: Pepper, I think we all experience that
eskielover: what is wonderful is that you may feel that way now….but it’s a growing thing
recluse1: yea, i do too at times Pepper.
SeptemberMorn: His love will soften your heart
SophiaG: ooo what are the 7 types?
SophiaG: =)
bebop: pepper if I may say this to you. often times we as Christians at some point in time have doubts, it is then we need to really get down on our knees and humble ourselves to Him. pray to Him and He will soften us. give yourself to Him.
recluse1: several types
SophiaG: oh
recluse1: well said Be
greenpepper: i just pray to be of service…….i’ve given up on happiness and joy………………………………..thank u bebop….
bebop: ty
eskielover: yes Be
SophiaG: i think my sunday school teacher mentioned 3 types of love
SeptemberMorn: Agape - God inspired love, unconditional
SeptemberMorn: Eros - sexual
SeptemberMorn: or romantic
bebop: pepper by giving up on happiness and joy you are taking away from God. you can’t give it up hon
eskielover: the best thing I found to pray for it for the Holy Spirit to guide my life
SophiaG: what about sibling love?
SeptemberMorn: and familial love
recluse1: Pepper, do you remember the overwhelming joy you felt when you received Christ?
SophiaG: *shuts up*
SeptemberMorn: LOL No need to
eskielover: With the Holy spirit guiding….then comes being of service as the Holy Spirit points out those things
greenpepper: no i dont recluse……….thats why i doubt things
eskielover: I know for me, my parents were Christian & I just grew up going to church….so it was just a thing to do
recluse1: ((((((GP)))))))
SeptemberMorn: we don’t need to expect that overwhelming joy. sometimes it just comes as a knowledge that you cannot, will not doubt
bebop: pepper the bible tells us to do our first works over. to me this means getting back to the basics of even asking God back into our lives. maybe you have backslidden a wee bit
eskielover: & it was …yes, I believe in Christ……for so long
SeptemberMorn: it was for me too, Debbie
eskielover: but that was about all there was to it….I knew about the Holy Spirit
recluse1: i agree about going back to the basics until you feel secure in your salvation
SeptemberMorn: Can we finish up with our last song before we get side tracked?
greenpepper: im sure i have backslidden……..depression has overtaken me again……..
greenpepper: ooops
greenpepper: sorry
eskielover: I knew he was in me because I was baptized & I believed in Christ….but something was missing
mssumom: I’m sorry to have to pop out and I will for sure be spending lots more time here at PC as I have really missed my friends. I have to go get hooked up to my heart monitor for the night. take care all and thank you for starting this room……
greenpepper: gb mssum…nice meeting u
bebop: nite hon and welcome back
recluse1: tc mss
eskielover: take care mssumom
SeptemberMorn: {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Lori}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
bebop: tomi what is the song?
SeptemberMorn: here it comes.
mssumom: nite all………love to you all
eskielover: I think we should close with the benediction, then we can continue with the discussion?
mssumom has left the room.
SophiaG: alright mssu
eskielover: sorry…..the song?
SeptemberMorn: http://youtube.com/watch?v=J_dOKo0jFA8&feature=related
_Sky entered the room.
_Sky whew!
recluse1: wb
_Sky: ty
SeptemberMorn: Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me.
eskielover: wb sky….we are closing with a song
_Sky: ok
SeptemberMorn: Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me. Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
SeptemberMorn: Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on me.
SeptemberMorn: If you’re watching the video, repeat that three times
SeptemberMorn: Debbie, whenever you’re ready, give us the blessing.
eskielover: The Lord bless you & keep you
eskielover: The Lord make his face shine upon you
eskielover: and be gracious to you
eskielover: The Lord turn his face toward you & give you peace
eskielover: Go in peace, amen
bebop: amen
SeptemberMorn: amen
recluse1: amen
SophiaG: amen

recluse1: hi tomi
SeptemberMorn: Hey Hon!
SeptemberMorn: Just want to remind everyone of my blog. It’s strictly for Christian subjects. Would appreciate everyone posting.

SeptemberMorn: with the link, BTW
bebop: not sure if any of you saw my post in sf today. we lost a great singer/songwriter…Dottie Rambo
SeptemberMorn: Oh, no! That’s too bad
eskielover: how sad Be…I wasn’t familiar with the singer….I probably heard her songs just didn’t know
bebop: debbie she was a southern gospel for many, many years. she is from Kentucky!
recluse1: yep, i just can’t click the links with out being kicked.

SeptemberMorn: We ask that you protect this group
SeptemberMorn: from attacks so that we may strengthen ourselves
SeptemberMorn: to be the witnesses that you would want us to be.
SeptemberMorn: We pray for each and every one here
SeptemberMorn: as well as the rest of the membership.
EHkittys entered the room.
SeptemberMorn: Soften hardened hearts so that they

ginny543 entered the room.

SeptemberMorn: I came to Jesus, I took my Stand
SeptemberMorn: But what I’d surrendered was back in my hands
SeptemberMorn: Defeated by failures, haunted by fears
SeptemberMorn: I cried out in anguish “My God, are you here?”
SeptemberMorn: He said child you’re forgiven, forgiven and free
SeptemberMorn: He said it, I heard it. Sweet victory
SeptemberMorn: The future can never intimidate me
SeptemberMorn: since I’ve been forgiven, forgiven and free
SeptemberMorn: I’m resting and growing in His strong embrace
SeptemberMorn: I’ve traded performance for amazing grace
SeptemberMorn: When I think of the day that I heard His voice
SeptemberMorn: What a relief, Because I can’t earn my way
SeptemberMorn: When I come up empty, My father pays
SeptemberMorn: I’m learning to live, And I’m learning to die
SeptemberMorn: And one of these days I’ll be learning to fly
SeptemberMorn: He said child you’re forgiven, forgiven and free
SeptemberMorn: He said it, I heard it. Sweet victory
SeptemberMorn: The future can never intimidate me
SeptemberMorn: since I’ve been forgiven, forgiven and free
SeptemberMorn: Let Debbie know when the song is over for you, ok?
Rapunzel: done
bebop: done
recluse1: i think we are ready
eskielover: ok
SeptemberMorn: yep
eskielover: I wanted to start off with a quick point about our crucified life from last week
SeptemberMorn: Be, are you still away?
bebop is back again.
eskielover: Gal 2:20
bebop: in and out lol
eskielover: I have been crucified w/Christ & I no longer live, but Christ lives in me
eskielover: when we identify w/ Him in His death in such a way as to allow Him to live through us
eskielover: we must agree to walk the path of the cross to ALLOW the Spirit to lie through us
BrnEyedGrl entered the room.
recluse1: welcome BEG
SeptemberMorn: welcome, Brn
eskielover: the choices we make everyday in our battle with sin is to truly “identify” with Christ
BrnEyedGrl: Hi everyone.
eskielover: hi Danielle…..we just started
BrnEyedGrl: Oh Good
eskielover: welcome
BrnEyedGrl: //0
Suzy5654 entered the room.
recluse1: welcome suzy
eskielover: now onto this week….continuing the foundation for the study of the fruit of the Spirit
SeptemberMorn: welcome to our Bible study, Suzy
bebop is currently away.
eskielover: Galatians chapter 3 will be the basis for tonight
eskielover: Galatians 3 talks about Christianity in the beginning & the struggle they went through
eskielover: The Jewish believers in Christ kept trying to convince the others believers that in addition to accepting Christ as Savior
eskielover: they had to be circumcised & keep the law. The simplicity of the gospel
eskielover: became a stumbling block
eskielover: they couldn’t believe effort had no bearing on acceptance of god
eskielover: Eph 2:8-9
eskielover: For it is by grace you have been saved,
SeptemberMorn: hee I picked a good song, then
Suzy5654: Hi, I lost my faith a long time ago due to going to a rigid church that didn’t think mental illnesses were “real”–that taking psych meds were just a crutch when the real issue was sin & a lack of faith. I’m not saying you all believe that. I don’t know why I dropped in there except to say I do feel sad that I’ve completely lost my faith & am not practicing any religious life at all due to that. “God bless you”, though & be thankful for having your faith to sustain you.
eskielover: through faith—& this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God
Rapunzel: it fits, doesn’t it?
eskielover: not by works, so that no one can boast.
eskielover: & yet….remember last week, we had the discussion about judgement being on works….as is also stated in the bible
recluse1: (((((((suzy))))))) welcome to stay and just listen if you like, hon
Rapunzel: i have that chapter up in another window - if anyone doesn’t have their scriptures http://scriptures.lds.org/en/gal/3
BrnEyedGrl: thank you
SeptemberMorn: Suzy, we’re not rigid here, Hon.
eskielover: yes, suzy, you are welcome to listen if you want….we definitely aren’t rigid here
SeptemberMorn: Thank you, Wendy
Rapunzel:
eskielover: we all know what it’s like to deal with mental health issues…..we are doing it right now
eskielover: It’s important to remember that those good works of the believer
SeptemberMorn slides next to Wendy and gives her a hug
eskielover: give evidence to faith.
eskielover: it isn’t a contradiction
eskielover: the point: good works which are seen, give evidence of unseen faith.
eskielover: it is our faith that saves us & we do good works because of that faith
Rapunzel: ((( Tomi )))
recluse1: great point debbie
Rapunzel: i agree
BrnEyedGrl: yes it is.
eskielover: It important that we do not take a casual approach to our salvation
SeptemberMorn: exactly!
Rapunzel: i was always taught that we are saved by grace after we have done all that we can do
eskielover: May God allow us to see a fresh approach as we attempt to understand the
eskielover: 2 building blocks that are crucial to our salvation:
eskielover: Grace (greek charis) & faith (greek pistis)
eskielover: I found that defining some of the words helps as I kept hearing them, but not really understanding the real meaning
eskielover: Grace: that which causes joy, pleasure, gratification, favor, acceptance
SeptemberMorn: I had trouble with “grace” for a long time
eskielover: for a kindness granted or desire, a benefit, thanks, gratitude.
eskielover: A favor done without expectation of return
SeptemberMorn: “unmerited favor”
eskielover: The absolute free expression of the loving kindness of God to men finding it’s only motive in the bounty & benevolence of the Giver
eskielover: exactly…..that was the next one
eskielover: unearned & unmerited favor
SeptemberMorn: hehe
eskielover: that’s great….go ahead…that’s what we want
SeptemberMorn: I’m done. LOL
Suzy5654: I don’t know. I do “good works” because I have a burden for hurting people & because I am so grateful for how I have been “blessed.” I’ve made it through a lot (childhood abuse, bipolar treatment, etc.) & I just have a burden to help others–volunteer in the women’s jail & teach a class (sponsored by NAMI) for those diagnosed with mental illnesses. It is rewarding to me personally, but I don’t think there is any eternal “points” I get for it. Sorry to be a unbeliever here.
eskielover: God’s grace affects man’s sinfulness
eskielover: that’s ok suzy
eskielover: you may not even understand how this may effect you in the future
eskielover: & doing good is always the best thing to do no matter whether we believe or not
eskielover: God’s grace affects man’s sinfulness
SeptemberMorn: sounds like this may just be up your alley, Suzy
bebop: suzy if you feel burdened to do these good things it means that is your calling.
SeptemberMorn: amen
recluse1: sounds like you are doing things for the right reasons to me suzy, not for your own gain, but because your heart is pressed to do it
eskielover: & not only forgives the repentant sinner, but brings joy & thankfulness to him
bebop: you will be rewarded with many crowns
eskielover: God knows what is in your heart & knows what will be in your heart in the future
eskielover: we are not to do things for points & your heart is where it should be
recluse1: yes, i agree
eskielover: Grace changes the individual to a new person without destroying his individuality
SeptemberMorn: AMEN to that!!!
BrnEyedGrl: so true!
Suzy5654: Thanks for the welcome. I know I do miss having the faith in God & the security it brings. It has just (faith) been destroyed for me. I’d better say good-night.–Suzy
bebop: please stay
eskielover: you are welcome to stay….
SeptemberMorn: yes, please
Rapunzel: good night Suzy, if you want to go - I’m glad you came
Rapunzel: this must bring up some hard feelings for you
SeptemberMorn: that’s true
eskielover: we never know when a word will click in our heads & understand what has been wrong
SeptemberMorn:
recluse1: do what you need to hon. just know you are always welcome to come back
Suzy5654: I’m not able to regain my faith, but I do recognize the peace & joy it brings to others.
recluse1: loved meeting you BTW
bebop: suzy I think you still have some faith. even the grain of a mustard seed is all we need. you said you have a burden to do these good things. that tells me you still have at least some
bebop: I too at times feel like I have lost my faith. we all go thru it at times
eskielover: sometimes we come into a similar environment that is actually different & time is what it takes when we heal from anything that hurts us
SeptemberMorn: something brought you in here, Suzy… but do w hat you need to for yourself //33
Suzy5654: Well, it’s been many YEARS since I was able to have faith. You all have been great & please continue on with your Bible study!! I didn’t meant to interrupt.
eskielover: I know the faith I had wasn’t anything like what I have found just lately….& I think it was pretty much gone for me for quite awhile too
SeptemberMorn: Suzy, we’re in here for support, too
bebop: I think the main reason we are here is to share with others like yourself.
eskielover: The next topic is that of Faith
bebop: our missions as Christians is to help others.
Rapunzel: you didn’t interrupt - you added to what we are here for
eskielover: Faith is the firm persuasion, conviction, belief in the truth,
eskielover: veracity, reality….objectively meaning ‘that which is believed”
SeptemberMorn: this group has purposed to be loving and accepting of others, right where they are.
eskielover: I also needed the definition for righteous….always had problems with that one
eskielover: righteous = morally upright, without guilt or sin
eskielover: righteousness = the state of being without guilt or sin
bebop: none of us can be either of those
SeptemberMorn: “HE is all my righteousness”
eskielover: Galatians chapter 3 is all about Paul trying to explain to the Galatians about faith versus law from the old testament
Suzy5654 has left the room.
Rapunzel: we can’t do it by our works alone
bebop: I really wish she had stayed
Rapunzel: we always come up short
bebop: you know it hon.
bebop: I think you are right tomi. she only thinks she has lost her faith
eskielover: That is in Gal 3:6
eskielover: “Consider Abraham: he believed God & it was credited to him as righteousness
mandazzle: ok well i think i’m going to go now.
recluse1: tc manda!
SeptemberMorn: night, Manda
BrnEyedGrl: night
recluse1: come back when you can!
Rapunzel: tc
